May I just say; I never tire of these reports on how living in the Phoenix metro area stacks up against the rest of the country. For all the hype about skyrocketing temperatures and real estate prices, isn’t it funny how we’re still the #1 hot spot (pun intended) for population growth? So, what are we doing right, here? Turns out there’s a lot!
At the forefront is reasonable cost of living (relatively speaking). Yes, prices continue to rise everywhere on everything from gas and groceries to rent and recreation, but compared to other coastal states and fashionable cites nationwide, Phoenix definitely offers more for less. Just check out gas prices and property taxes in California…yikes! No wonder they’re flocking here en mass!
Also high on the list are economic opportunities. Our job market is flourishing, and we have a stable environment for businesses, both new and established, to thrive. Technology, innovation, aerospace, military defense, hospitality and tourism, among other industries, are all witnessing major expansion in our area, and there are no signs of it slowing down. With tech giants like Google, Meta (Facebook), Apple and Amazon all putting down roots here, job opportunities will abound, which leads to an influx of people who will all need a place to live! Helloooo, real estate investment opportunities! Let’s talk about THAT!
Another focused effort is developing ways to combat the heat (and I don’t mean those restaurant misters that might offer a little relief, but mostly just leave you with damp clothes and soggy tortilla chips). Cooling centers, indoor entertainment options and expansive urban forestry projects help improve lifestyle and support vulnerable residents, air quality, animal habitat, storm water control and energy conservation as well as protect and beautify our communities.
All in all, I’d say we’re incredibly fortunate to live in such a vibrant and prosperous city, and a few months of heat is a small price to pay for the quality of life we enjoy, especially with fantastic weather through most of the year! If you’re considering a move to or within the Phoenix area or have an interest in income properties, there’s no time like the present to reach out and let me show you why there’s no place like the desert!
